Semana 81: Make Love, Not War

Image
The title comes from a Mexican missionary shouting, "Make Love!! Not War!!" in a district council. Just about all of our district speaks English so when he made that error, we all dropped to the floor laughing. I guess that's one way to solve the crisis happening in Ukraine right now.  Hermana Sedgwick I went on exchanges with the stud Elder Robertson!! He was the Canadian missionary in my MTC district and one of our best zone leaders. It was so fun! Familia Mota We were at our recent converts house. He was feeling pretty sick so we walked him over to his bed. We were talking to his daughters and his wife when all of a sudden we heard this loud bang on the floor. We looked over and it was our convert that had fallen off the bed. He had a seizure which caused him to fall off the bed and smacked his face so hard on the cement floor that he was unconscious. We all freaked out and lifted him up onto the bed. He was snoring and breathing really heavily but he would not wake up...

Semana 79: ¡¡Bautismo de Adrian!!

What's up guys! I hope everyone has a phenomenal week, I sure did!  El Compa Tuesday was transfers and my comp and I were receiving a lot of calls throughout the mission with bus complications but we somehow figured everything out. Meanwhile, we were leading a devotional for the new trainers and the trainees. That meeting finished, we got everyone and their suitcases in taxis and sent them to the bus station. Everyone got to their areas safely and my companion and I were absolutely gassed.  Las Sabritas Wednesday was a pretty normal day... besides the fact that our mission president made us cancel all of our appointments to go to some of his appointments with his investigators. We helped him put some people on date, and watched as he contacted randos on the street and invited them to be baptized.  Just Appointment Things My first Sunday in Los Lagos, a dad of this active family came up to us and said, "I have been sober for several months now, I f...

Semana 78: Why me

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've sent a weekly, I hope you all are having an incredible winter season and feel the infinite love that the Savior has for each of you❤ Zacapoaxtla View About a month ago, Agua Dulce got hit with a massive cold front. The daily highs dropped from about 85 to 50 degrees. We ripped out the sweatshirts from the suitcases and continued working. I was FREEZING!! I don't know how I am going to handle BYU lol. About 2 weeks ago, due to the change of weather and the crazy amount of rain we received, my health took its toll and I was sick for an entire week straight with the flu.  Shhhh My companion and I found a family of GOLD! A mom, dad and 3 sons at the age of baptism. They came to church with us twice, put them on date... anddd they moved to another state in Mexico. We passed the referral and the bishop and sister missionaries are preparing them to get baptized. Ni modo. Dimas y Familia Papantla My companion and I traveled 3 and a half ho...

Semana 75: A Week of Many Miracles

Image
Hey Everyone!! I am so sorry for not writing last week, I didn't have much to say. I do and have been doing the same exact thing every single day for 17 months, it's a little difficult trying to make these weekly email entertaining.  Selfie In the middle of an orchard Two weeks ago, I went to Xalapa for our Mission Leadership Council which was great. Our mission President wants us to focus on our missionary purpose of finding, teaching, and baptizing and he put a huge emphasis on how it is important that the leaders in the mission set the example for their zones by baptizing people in their areas. He literally told all the Zone Leaders that if you aren't baptizing, you will no longer be a zone leader. Hype.  Leadership Council MLC The boys We had zone conference. We talked about the same exact thing and our mission quote for this transfer is "it's time to go to work". I've been extremely dedicated to trying to find all of the elect that I possibly can.  Zo...

Semana 73: My Son

Hey everyone! I hope y'all had a phenomenal week! After the wild incident that happened on New Years Eve, the town has been pretty shaken up. A lot of the investigators we have and members are somehow related to this family and were there when they were laid to rest. It was a great moment to teach the Plan of Salvation. The town is really down in the dumps right now. The power and cell service went out in the entire town the day we got transfer calls. The phone completely died and we had no idea about transportation. My comp and I went to Papantla to charge the phone and get cell service. Turns out that I had to leave that same day. We went back to Agua Dulce, my comp packed all of his stuff and we left for me to catch my bus. The annoying part is that the bus arrived 2 and a half hours later at 9:30 at night. The bus ride to Xalapa is 5 hours and we got there at 3am. The APs called me and told me to spend the night with them so I took a taxi at 3 in the morning to the APs house. W...

Semana 72: New Years Eve Tragedy

Image
For all you who are reading this, this is not a joke, there are no exaggerations or anything of the sort... It all started on New Year's Eve, my comp and I were invited to some investigator's house to eat dinner with them and watch them light off fireworks. We ate dinner and chatted for a little while. Our friend, Chemo, decided he wanted to go and buy some more fireworks. My comp, 3 others guys, and I went with him. We walked around the corner of the street and there was this little house who had a massive stockpile of fireworks. One of the rooms was filled with mortars, sparklers, and all sorts of fireworks you can possibly think of. A young man was selling them. Chemo bought 200 pesos worth of fireworks and we left.  We walked around the corner and to Chemo's house (keep in mind that he lives about 100 yards or less away from this house that was selling fireworks). For about 15 minutes, we were innocently lighting off fireworks and having a good time when all of a sudden...

Semana 71: ¡¡La Navidad!!

Quiúbole changos! Voy a sacarles la sopa ahora esperenme tantito porfa! Merry Christmas!!! First off, thank you for all of the birthday wishes! Being 20 feels a little strange but it's the start of a new decade so I am hyped. I am also finishing my blackout year on the mission this week so I'll see all y'all in 2022!! Fuegoo This week was splendid. We had a lot of fun activities including a Branch Christmas party, zone activities, and passing out gifts to our investigators. Emircito Not going to lie, our branch knows how to throw a party. I was thinking it was gonna be this lame fiesta that nobody was going to show up too. People definitely showed up...and a lot of them. Basically all of the people in our branch who are inactive all year long, showed up to the branch Christmas party to participate in activities and eat free food. When Sunday rolled around, they went back into their inactive shell. There was a lot of dancing and skits, and even Santa came. All of the childre...
