Semana 73: My Son
Hey everyone! I hope y'all had a phenomenal week!
After the wild incident that happened on New Years Eve, the town has been pretty shaken up. A lot of the investigators we have and members are somehow related to this family and were there when they were laid to rest. It was a great moment to teach the Plan of Salvation. The town is really down in the dumps right now.
The power and cell service went out in the entire town the day we got transfer calls. The phone completely died and we had no idea about transportation. My comp and I went to Papantla to charge the phone and get cell service. Turns out that I had to leave that same day. We went back to Agua Dulce, my comp packed all of his stuff and we left for me to catch my bus. The annoying part is that the bus arrived 2 and a half hours later at 9:30 at night. The bus ride to Xalapa is 5 hours and we got there at 3am. The APs called me and told me to spend the night with them so I took a taxi at 3 in the morning to the APs house. We got there, slept, and woke up 3 hours later.
We had the conference with the new missionaries and I met my new son!! His name is Elder Martinez and is from Monterey, Nuevo Leon. It's probably the nicest city in all of Mexico. He's got a thick accent but he is such a great missionary.
We arrived to Agua Dulce Wednesday in the middle of the day and started working. I realized real quick that we don't have anyone progressing right now besides our one baptismal date. It was great because I've been teaching my son how to street contact all day long. We struggled a lot trying to find new people to teach but I am still happy to be in this area and I love it.
We had this stake-wide missionary preparation meeting. It was basically a meeting trying to motivate the youth to submit their papers to go and serve a mission. The area 70, stake president, our mission President, and all of the bishops and branch presidents from the stake were there. I had the honor of translating my mission President in the meeting and I got to answer questions about mission life and what we do as missionaries that were asked by the youth of the stake. It reminded me of when I was preparing for a mission and all the questions I had about mission life.
That is all for this week! Love you!
Elder Scown
