About a month ago, Agua Dulce got hit with a massive cold front. The daily highs dropped from about 85 to 50 degrees. We ripped out the sweatshirts from the suitcases and continued working. I was FREEZING!! I don't know how I am going to handle BYU lol.
About 2 weeks ago, due to the change of weather and the crazy amount of rain we received, my health took its toll and I was sick for an entire week straight with the flu.
Shhhh
My companion and I found a family of GOLD! A mom, dad and 3 sons at the age of baptism. They came to church with us twice, put them on date... anddd they moved to another state in Mexico. We passed the referral and the bishop and sister missionaries are preparing them to get baptized. Ni modo.

My companion and I traveled 3 and a half hours to do a baptismal interview. These people lived in the middle of NOWHERE. It was a little 9 year old girl who was going to get baptized, the coolest part is she only spoke a native dialect called Totonaco. I interviewed her while her dad translated my Spanish into Totonaco so that she could understand. It was such a cool experience. We walked an hour to get to the highway and waited another hour for a bus to pass by and pick us up. We wasted just about the entire day just for one baptismal interview but it was definitely worth it!

This past week on Wednesday I was just chillin in the church office training my son how to teach effective lessons when all of a sudden, I received a call from President Perkins. I got kinda nervous bc it is week 6 before transfers. He started giving me instructions about how he wanted to carry out district councils and asked me what my thoughts were about it. I gave some advice and out of the blue he said, "Elder Scown we need you to get on a bus to Xalapa this Friday morning, we need a new Assistant". So here I am... I still don't understand why because there are so many wonderful missionaries in this mission, but I need to trust that this is God's plan for me.

President told me that I will finishing my mission as Assistant so I won't have to worry about packing until I'm headed back to AZ. I got here Friday and it's been ridiculously exhausting. President and my companion picked me up at the bus station and we've been working all day and most nights. We don't get ANY sleep. Our mission President speaks very little Spanish so my companion and I do just about everything. Meanwhile, we managed to put several people on date in our area and 3 people in Agua Dulce got baptized that I sadly missed.

Sunday morning, we traveled to a small town in the state of Puebla to open a new branch in our mission. It was a really cool experience. Immediately after, we drove back to Xalapa, went to church, and my companion and I called the entire mission to tell transfer news. Following that, we went to a dinner with all of the missionaries who are going home to express gratitude and spend some time with them before they finish their time here in Xalapa.

This Monday we are taking all the missionaries going home to the airport and picking up the greenies from the bus station. All are fresh out of the MTC. We are going to take them street contacting and do some simple trainings.
Bye Bye Elder Rivera
Sorry for the long email, I would love to hear from you guys! Have a phenomenal week!
