Semana 102: The Best Two Years

Hola! I apologize for slacking hard core on the weekly emails these past few months. Fortunately and unfortunately for me this will be my last official email as a representative of Jesus Christ in the Xalapa Mexico Mission. I still can't even process that this is officially my last week in the mission and within a matter of a few days and hours I will be on a plane back to the good ol USA. Poza Rica is a considerably hot place, and I'm trying to soak it all in before I have to go to Arizona where it's even hotter. I'm going to miss this place so much.  My companion and I were working extremely hard and balancing it with some fun. We've planned several inspiring activities with the ward to encourage them to stay active in the church and their callings. I can tell that the ward is very excited with the new changes and I feel that things are going in a really good direction. We were blessed to see 4 amazing people participate in the sacred ordinances of baptism and con

Semana 96: Final Stretch

Hello my amazing friends and family! It's been an amazing 6 weeks since I last wrote a weekly. Here are some updates for y'all.  I have officially started my last transfer in my mission. I got transferred back to the good old Poza Rica and my new companion is Elder Hernandez from Mexicali. This means that I officially never had an American companion my entire time being in Mexico. I am really stoked for this last transfer and we have some good people we are teaching right now.  Last transfer to be completely honest, was pretty rough. President and Sister Perkins went to the United States for their son's wedding and were on do not disturb for a few days. Between my comp and I and the Senor couple in the mission, we were trying to keep everything under control. When the Perkins got home, they got Covid and my comp and I were forced to go into quarantine for a full week because we were exposed to them. We dedicated that week to preparing trainings, zone conferences, and other

Semana 90: I'm Alive

HELLOO!! Thanks to being so busy and a lack of desire to write weekly emails these past 2 months, y'all have missed out on some pretty entertaining stuff. Tough... wouldn't wanna be ya. Jk Here's a recap... Guapetón I just started my 3rd transfer in Los Lagos. I have a new companion named Elder Robertson who was in my MTC district. It's amazing to see how much we've changed in almost 2 years. He is from Canada and we get along really well. Also, he's my first companion that is not Mexican so I am pretty excited for that. Elder Robertson Over the past 6 weeks, we helped 6 new people come to Christ by making lifelong covenants with Him through baptism. Iaan, Andrea, Elodia, Rosa, Sarahi, and Julio Cesar are amazing converts and have an incredible desire to come closer to Christ. Over these weeks, 3 converts of mine received the priesthood and a couple is preparing to go through the temple! The gospel really changes lives! Baptism de Elodia Bautismo Iaan y Andrea!!

Semana 81: Make Love, Not War

Image
The title comes from a Mexican missionary shouting, "Make Love!! Not War!!" in a district council. Just about all of our district speaks English so when he made that error, we all dropped to the floor laughing. I guess that's one way to solve the crisis happening in Ukraine right now.  Hermana Sedgwick I went on exchanges with the stud Elder Robertson!! He was the Canadian missionary in my MTC district and one of our best zone leaders. It was so fun! Familia Mota We were at our recent converts house. He was feeling pretty sick so we walked him over to his bed. We were talking to his daughters and his wife when all of a sudden we heard this loud bang on the floor. We looked over and it was our convert that had fallen off the bed. He had a seizure which caused him to fall off the bed and smacked his face so hard on the cement floor that he was unconscious. We all freaked out and lifted him up onto the bed. He was snoring and breathing really heavily but he would not wake up

Semana 79: ¡¡Bautismo de Adrian!!

What's up guys! I hope everyone has a phenomenal week, I sure did!  El Compa Tuesday was transfers and my comp and I were receiving a lot of calls throughout the mission with bus complications but we somehow figured everything out. Meanwhile, we were leading a devotional for the new trainers and the trainees. That meeting finished, we got everyone and their suitcases in taxis and sent them to the bus station. Everyone got to their areas safely and my companion and I were absolutely gassed.  Las Sabritas Wednesday was a pretty normal day... besides the fact that our mission president made us cancel all of our appointments to go to some of his appointments with his investigators. We helped him put some people on date, and watched as he contacted randos on the street and invited them to be baptized.  Just Appointment Things My first Sunday in Los Lagos, a dad of this active family came up to us and said, "I have been sober for several months now, I feel like it's my time to g

Semana 78: Why me

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've sent a weekly, I hope you all are having an incredible winter season and feel the infinite love that the Savior has for each of you❤ Zacapoaxtla View About a month ago, Agua Dulce got hit with a massive cold front. The daily highs dropped from about 85 to 50 degrees. We ripped out the sweatshirts from the suitcases and continued working. I was FREEZING!! I don't know how I am going to handle BYU lol. About 2 weeks ago, due to the change of weather and the crazy amount of rain we received, my health took its toll and I was sick for an entire week straight with the flu.  Shhhh My companion and I found a family of GOLD! A mom, dad and 3 sons at the age of baptism. They came to church with us twice, put them on date... anddd they moved to another state in Mexico. We passed the referral and the bishop and sister missionaries are preparing them to get baptized. Ni modo. Dimas y Familia Papantla My companion and I traveled 3 and a half ho
