Semana 96: Final Stretch
Hello my amazing friends and family! It's been an amazing 6 weeks since I last wrote a weekly. Here are some updates for y'all.
I have officially started my last transfer in my mission. I got transferred back to the good old Poza Rica and my new companion is Elder Hernandez from Mexicali. This means that I officially never had an American companion my entire time being in Mexico. I am really stoked for this last transfer and we have some good people we are teaching right now.
Last transfer to be completely honest, was pretty rough. President and Sister Perkins went to the United States for their son's wedding and were on do not disturb for a few days. Between my comp and I and the Senor couple in the mission, we were trying to keep everything under control. When the Perkins got home, they got Covid and my comp and I were forced to go into quarantine for a full week because we were exposed to them. We dedicated that week to preparing trainings, zone conferences, and other mission work that needed to get done. It was pretty productive nonetheless :))
The rest of that transfer consisted of zone conferences and exchanges but despite all the work we were doing, it was really mentally exhausting trying to stay on top of everything. I'm so grateful for the time I had to work with President Perkins, he is definitely one of my biggest role models and I have learned so much from him. I've never seen a man who loves the Book of Mormon more than my mission President. I've also never seen a mission president that has a willing desire to go out in the field and work like a normal missionary. He was born to do missionary work and be himself while doing it. My testimony of this work has strengthened so much these past 5 months.
It's crazy to think that there's only 5 weeks left before this chapter in my life comes to a close. I am extremely blessed for have been given the opportunity to serve a mission in this extraordinary part of Mexico. I'm ready to sprint though the finish line and I hope to see some good success before I have to say goodbye for a short while.
