Semana 69: ¡¡OH SHIZ!! ¡IT'S A GHOST!

The title comes from the hilarious YouTube video with the Afro dude jumping back and forth and saying ¡oh shiz! ¡It's a Ghost! and it fits perfectly for the title of this weekly because we definitely got some evil spirits in this house... like for real.

It all started in the middle of the night as I woke up due to feeling restless and I was freezing cold. My heart was beating really fast and I didn't know why. I realized that my pillow, blankets, under bed sheets, everything was completely off the bed and scattered over the room... and I don't remember throwing them off the bed. The weirder part was that half of my things on my desk (which is on the other side of the bedroom) were scattered across the room on the floor. The room felt dense and heavy. I turned over and reached out pretty far to grab my pillow and the nearest blanket. I looked at my companion who was dead asleep. I had this impression to look up at the corner of the bedroom and suddenly I saw it. A silhouette figure of darkness shaped as some sort of deformed, ugly personage looking directly at me, my heart went into shock and it took every fiber of my body to look away. When you see something like that the fear hits you so powerfully but at the same time you can't take your eyes off of it. I grabbed my blanket, turned around facing the wall and tried to ignore what I just saw.

Throughout the night, I kept hearing screeches, zippers opening, doors slamming, footsteps 👣 and very unusual noises. I even heard voices and I was able to capture one phrase that rang in my ears that said "You don't belong here". It didn't come from one place in the room, but it sounded like a surround sound movie theater but I knew that voice was not my own, nor the Holy Ghost. I tried to sleep but I couldn't. I was praying to try to calm myself down a bit.

Early in the morning my comp and I woke up, the first thing I said to him was "I don't know if I had a nightmare or what but I think..." he cut me off and asked "Did you see that evil spirit in the corner as well". That's when we both knew it was 100% real what we saw. We couldn't sleep that night. We said a prayer and prayed for the house to be a safe haven where the Holy Spirit can dwell and since then we haven't had any problems but that was a wild experience.

We had our Christmas zone conference. We sang Christmas carols and talked about the birth of Jesus Christ. We ate Church's Chicken for the meal, which seemed really fitting for Christmas. 😒 Our mission President loved it and said we will now eat Church's Chicken every zone conference from here on out.

I went to Xalapa two weeks ago for our MLC council which was really fun. We arrived at the secretary's office, they bought loads of al pastor tacos and we had a massive sleepover.

Los Gringos en Xalapa

This last week I went to Xalapa AGAIN because I needed to renew my visa. It was so fun because there were five American missionaries (all ZLs and APs) sleeping over in the AP's house. It was the longest period of time I spoke in straight English in a while. I was there for two days and went on exchanges with the Assistants.

Elder Diaz

During exchanges with the AP's there was a member who wanted to feed us and all five of us showed up. She was such a sweet lady and she recently was baptized with the Assistants. After the meal she asked to speak with us privately. She began to cry and told us that she made a deal with some really bad people who loaned her money because she didn't have enough to pay her rent. She explained that her due date to give the money back had passed and this group of people had been sending her death threats to her, her children, and other friends. She warned us in case they started to go after my companions and I. We insisted that she call the police and asked if we could give her a blessing. She said yes. The five of us encircled around her and put our hands over her head and gave her a blessing of comfort. It was a powerful experience for many reasons but the best part was that we were five American missionaries, who arrived in Mexico to serve at the same time. It was amazing to see the progress we've made with the way we teach with power and authority when eleven months ago we couldn't even speak the language. The five of us and the sister were crying by the end. It was so so incredible.

In México it was the day of the Virgin where all the Catholics go crazy crazy celebrating the Virgin of Guadalupe. There were a ton of parades and fireworks going off just about the entire week. My comp and I wanted to walk in the middle of the parade with a sign saying "Thou shalt not worship false idols" but they probably would've merked us.

Our family keeps pushing their baptismal date back but it seems like they will be ready this Friday so please send a bunch of prayers to help them follow through! 🙏

On Pday we went to the beach with the Zone and played some spikeball, football, and volleyball. It was freaking hot and I got fried but it was a blast. I am getting really excited to finally be able to swim again. 8 months left!!!
