Semana 57: Matar Gente
Hey Hoodrats!
This week was pretty dope not gonna lie, besides the fact that the Mexican food turned against me... again. I hope I make it home to see all of you guys before the oil and dough kills me. We are just thriving over here in San Bruno.
We were forced to stop teaching an amazing family because the husband starting researching our church before we even taught him anything. He came across the Book of Mormon, started reading it and went on a total rampage about it not being the word of God. I convinced him to keep listening to us because he never even gave us the opportunity to explain ourselves. He agreed to keep listening to us but it didn't last much longer as the next day he told us "aight I'm done" RIP!
We went on exchanges with the Assistants and I went over to their area again, it was so much fun! The two AP's are American missionaries and this was literally the first time during my 8 months here in Mexico, that I was with an another American missionary for longer than a day. The AP I was with is about the same height as me and we have very similar methods of street contacting, so we were going crazy crazy and found a ton of success! While we were on our way to an appointment, a lightning bolt struck a lamp post really close and the thunder almost made me deaf. We freaked out but it was way funny.
We had interviews with President and Sister Perkins and they went how they usually go. President told me about his idea about hosting an ice cream party for all of the ward missionaries to motivate them so they are willing to give us more referrals. That was about it. Sister Perkins and I talked about girls for just about the entire time lets go!
This week on Wednesday I think was Mexico's Independence Day and we didn't do a single thing. President told us it was a normal working day so that is how it went. Oh well... we heard a lot of fireworks go off in the middle of the night.
Zone conference happened and it was pretty sick. We talked about the same things that we learned in the Mission Leadership Council and it was very inspiring. I led a small group discussion about how we have seen the grace of Jesus Christ affect us in our lives. We ate tamales and a good chunk of missionaries got really sick... including me.
I had exchanges with one of our companionships and I stayed with the new American missionary that got here two weeks ago in my area while my comp went with our District Leader. This kid reminds me of when I got here to Mexico, doesn't speak a lick of Spanish. But we were able to find 8 new people to teach including a family of 5. It was so fun because this missionary is so innocent and has no idea what is going on half of the time. He's a phenomenal missionary!
There was a 7.something earthquake that hit a nearby state in Mexico and Xalapa had a ton of aftershocks, the worst part is that I didn't feel any of them. Oh well.
That is about it I think! Have a great week!
