Semana 49: Welcome to Xalapa

Alaaaaa onda!! What a week! This has easily been one of my hardest working weeks in the mission thus far. It was a huge breath of fresh air after my long last transfer in Petromex!

Last Pday, my companion and I stopped by all of my converts and favorite members' houses to say goodbye, give hugs, and take pictures. It was a really fun and wholesome day because I've developed a lot of very strong relationships with the investigators and members over there. I am going to miss them so much!

Tuesday was a pretty wild day to be honest. Early in the morning we went to the bus station for transfers and we almost missed our bus because some hooligans got there late and we had to wait for them because we had their tickets. After a long 6 hour bus ride, we finally got to Xalapa where I met my companion and ultimate legend, Elder Guerrero, who is our most experienced zone leader. This is his 10th transfer as ZL and has 19 months in the mission. I am almost positive he will be Assistant next transfer. The man is an absolute powerhouse, contacts every person he sees on the streets, and his numbers are crazy good. It feels like I am in my training all over again. He is really obedient but at the same time makes missionary work so fun and enjoyable. He turned me into a street contacting monster and now I want to contact any living object. We found 15 ELECT people to teach this week and put 2 on baptismal dates after coming to a whitewashed area.

I also fulfilled my dream of preaching in front of a crowd of people when we went to a park and there was a group of 25 people surrounding us listening to us talk about Jesus Christ. We left with most of their numbers and it was way cool!!

Our house is absolutely crap. We found a pretty nice house to move into the first day my comp and I got to Xalapa, but when it was time for move-in day, the house owner completely ghosted us. So our bed frames, tables, chairs, and just about everything is sitting outside of our crappy house completely disassembled. BUT we found an even cooler house in a brand new gated apartment complex and we are moving in Thursday so we chillin.

My mission president took my comp and I over to an area that he is about to open in our zone and we were street contacting with him and looking for a house. It was so funny watching Prez street contact because he can't speak Spanish to save his life but I loved the effort.

There's a companionship in our zone that are fighting like crazy and it seems like everyday we are either in their house breaking up a fight or on the phone with them and the Assistants.

I attended my first Mission Leadership Council this week!! All of the Zone Leaders and the Assistants from all parts of the mission got together in our mission president's house to discuss ideas on what we can do to better strengthen the mission culture and obedience. It was so fun seeing all of my friends up in the north part of the mission and seeing my trainer, Elder Ruiz!!
