Semana 28: Suns Out, BoMs Out
Dang the weeks just keep getting better and better over here! How is everyone doing??
So this week was really really fun... a little less diligent than usual but hey sometimes you just gotta enjoy the once in a lifetime experiences!

First off, another American missionary (Elder Tingey) and I were asked by our mission President to travel to Tezuitlan to help him and the Assistants train all the companionships how to use the Areabook app more effectively and show them ways they can find while in quarantine. Our bus left at 7 in the morning on Friday, so we had exchanges the night before. Let me tell you it was SO NICE being with an American and to finally be able to speak in English again. Don't get me wrong, I love the Mexican missionaries to death but their idea of missionary work is just very different than the way the Americans have been taught how to do it. The night of exchanges we went to a family's house that we've been talking with. Elder Tingey and I gave them a Book of Mormon taught a very short and powerful lesson. The mom was so surprised when we gave her a Book of Mormon because she's never had one before. She told us that she was excited to start reading. And guess what, the missionaries have been over at their house at least once a week for over 5 years. So that was a bruh moment.

Elder Tingey and I woke up early and took the bus two hours to Tezuitlan. It was quite the adventure, two white boys traveling around the mission alone. We got to the church building and we helped the office Elders and President Perkins get everything set up for the conference. The meeting was fun and it was nice seeing some familiar faces! After the two different zone conferences, we toured around the city center for several hours because our bus didn't leave until 7pm. We went shopping and Elder Tingey and I bought ponchos. We also went inside this gigantic Cathedral and it was pretty cool. We took our tags off and went in as "tourists" because we didn't want to make it seem like we were going in there to judge or challenge their faith. I don't know if that was the right thing to do or not ahahah!
Pretty cool cathedral
We finally made it home and then we woke up at 3:30 am the next morning and took a 2 hour bus ride to Vega de Alatorre where my district leader was having a baptism in the ocean! He wanted me to go in the Ocean with him to be a witness and help assist him in the ordinance so that was such a cool experience! The branch president in that area is freaking loaded. He lives on a Ranch with thousands of acres. He also owns a ton of different kinds of animals AND his ranch borders the shoreline so he technically has a private beach which is where we did the baptism. He was a cool guy and gave me a lot of good life advice while I was there haha!
Definitely breaking the standards doing this but hey we chillin
New favorite candy: Tums
New favorite beverage: Pepto Bismol
You best believe, we ate it all
We went to our Investigators house and they love to test my limits on how much spicy food I can handle. So they made me these tacos and loaded them with really spicy peppers. They thought I would only be able to handle one.. I ate four. I was sweating like crazy but it wasn't anything too crazy. My comp was absolutely blown away and he said that I'm sitting somewhere between puking all night and going to the hospital with the amount of those peppers I ate. I asked for a 5th one and they wouldn't let me. So far my stomach is doing pretty good but we'll see how long that lasts!
"The taco that may put me in the hospital"
I've learned its best to not ask what meat you are eating...
Elder Tingey projectile vomited on the bus driving home from Vega and that was funny and gross.
Two kids were murdered on my street a few days ago which is really sad and kinda scary.
I scared away a man at a taco stand because I said to him, "Lucas!! Yo soy su Papí!" He was wearing a Darth Vader shirt I couldn't help myself.
Well I am actually going to the beach AGAIN for Pday so I'll keep this email short...
I hope you all have a fantastic week! Love you!
