Semana 55: Lessons with President
Sooo sorry for not writing an email last week!! I am a little pressed for time but I will give a short recap of the past two weeks.
Two weeks ago was week 6 of my transfer with Elder Guerrero, we went crazy crazy and found 19 new people to teach and helped a lot of missionaries in the zone to stay happy and motivated! The best part of the week was going to lessons with President Perkins. We were in the middle of zone classes when Prez called us and said (Batman voice) "I have 3 appointments and I need you to come with me". We ditched the zone and left our district leaders in charge to go help him out. We got to his "area" and I swear he literally found the poorest area in all of Xalapa to find people to teach. We stopped by the first house and they cancelled on us. President looked at me and said "Lets go street contacting" and I responded "arrrre". President is by far the most fearless man and goofiest street contacter I have ever seen in my entire life... he just shouts at people from across the street and runs over to them and says he is a missionary in his broken Spanish. He definitely put himself in several very awkward situations but he doesn't care which is awesome. At one point, my companion and I lost President, we literally had no idea where he went, we frantically searched for him for 5 minutes and finally found him in a house with this random family. As we stepped in he said "so why haven't you been baptized yet??". We sat down and started teaching them the plan of Salvation. We got to the Creation before President got bored and wanted to get straight to the point, he shoved his scriptures in my face and made me read 1 Peter 4:6 which talks about ordinances for the dead. I had no choice but to read it and it was pretty funny to see my companion attempting the transition from "Jesus created the earth" to "we baptize dead people". At the end of the lesson, we could tell President was feeling the spirit so strongly. He chimed into the conversation and said "El Espíritu Santo esta muy bueno"... for all of the Spanish speakers in the chat you know what that means but for those who don't, it means "the Holy Ghost is really hot". I mean in an attractive sense. We later went to another lesson with this family, we put 2 of them on date for baptism. It was a pretty awesome day!!
My companion got transferred to Papantla and I stayed here in Xalapa. We had an awesome transfer together. I think we had too much fun but I don't think that's a bad thing. My new companion is Elder Perez! He is from Tijuana and is my first companion since being in the United States that speaks English. But we never speak English so it doesn't even matter at this point. He is a really obedient missionary and is very Christlike and humble. Transfer day was crazy and I spent just about the entire day running errands for the Assistants because they had a lot on their plate with the new missionaries coming in. We got 3 new American missionaries in our zone and 5 missionaries in total in their training. A lot of babies but we are tuggin along!
Our investigator, Sabina, was baptized two Sundays ago!! She is so great and literally so cool! We called President to ask permission to go to the Mall on the other side of the zone to find a white dress for her and he told us that he had one that he could give to her. We took Sabina to our mission President's house to meet them and try on the dress. It fit perfectly. The following day we had her baptism and so many people came. President and Hermana Perkins even came to the baptism which made her feel so special. Yesterday in sacrament meeting, she got confirmed and passed her interview with the Bishop. She will get her temple recommend in 15 days and she is so stoked! I am so happy for her!
That is all that I remember from these two weeks! Love you all!
