Semana 42: The Chosen

Alright I'm gonna be straight up honest with you all, this week was not a productive week at all. As you all probably know, there is a traditional missionary holiday in Mexico that is equivalent to Hanukkah for it lasts for seven whole days. It's called P-week and it happens the 6th week of every transfer. At the start of this week my companion looked me dead straight in the eyes and said, "yeah I'm not doing anything this week", and that's when I realized that this week was going to be really difficult. We did get some good things done, we put 1 person on date for baptism but I am definitely going to repent for some unproductive times.

The Compa

On Tuesday/Wednesday we had exchanges with our zone leaders and I went to their area this time. We did absolutely nothing. My zone leader has one transfer left so he is mega trunky and a mega dead missionary. But we did eat like kings so that's a plus.

Hermana Martina!  Best galleta ever.

My companion and I walked past this stray dog on the side of the road the other day and he shouted out loud "look at this b****!!" I told him that it was grammatically correct but he should probably not say it. Since then, every time we pass by a female stray dog, he shouts that phrase and I have failed as a trainer.

We decided to put our crazy investigator on date because he seems to be calming down.

It rained 2 days straight in Poza Rica and we didn't have any power. My companion and I decided to walk 4 miles in the rain to our house rather than getting a taxi and we were absolutely SOAKED by the time we got there. Not gonna lie, walking all the way to our house in the rain with the roads 6 inches deep of water was probably one of the happiest moments in my mission! All of the people looked at us as if we were crazy, but it was so fun!

I was late to the game but APPARENTLY "The Chosen" has been approved in this mission the entire time and I had no idea! These past few days my companion and I have been watching it and it is literally SO GOOD! I love how they portray Jesus and the Apostles in this series. There are some moments where it feels like "Jesus and the boys" just having fun and filled with joy. But on the other hand, he has a perfect love for everyone he comes across and is an amazing teacher. Such an amazing show!!

We got transfer news this week and turns out that I am staying in Petromex for another transfer! I was almost 100% certain that I was going to leave, but oh well. I love this area and the people especially. I'm gonna be district leading this transfer so that's hype!! My compa is going to finish a training so I will have a grandson how sweet. 😪

I was listening to a devotional by Elder Holland and he said something that really stuck with me... "God's opportunity is man's extremity". God always has a way of pushing ourselves to our ultimate potential. When something seems nearly impossible, incomprehensible to grasp, that's exactly when God steps in to carry out something miraculous. It's always that last phone call at 9:29pm, it's always that one house we have to get to walking in the down pouring rain, where God's hand is extended. There will be times in our lives where the odds seem 100% against our favor, and that is exactly when we need to put our shoulder to the wheel and exercise that faith we say we have. God will bless us abundantly for it.
