Semana 39: 7 Man Taxi
Que onda mis queridos amigos!! I hope you all had a phenomenal week filled with the love of Christ, because Jesus really does love you more than anything :)
This week was kinda dull not gonna lie, a lot of frustration with investigators and barely any success. Areas go through phases where they are thriving on investigators and then phases where it is completely dead, I feel like it's on track to being dead. I guess that means we need to put in more effort on finding.
I would have to say the highlight of my week was probably when we went to the Elders Quorum activity and played soccer and volleyball. The youth had an activity as well and they were watching Moana or something. After their movie finished, they all flooded down to the soccer court and we played a massive game of soccer together. It was like a normal youth activity and it made me feel at home. After the activity we fit 5 grown men, the taxi driver and his girlfriend into a falling apart '95 Nissan Tsuru. It reminded me of the muppets scene when they kept piling out of a tiny car!
We set three more baptismal dates for several of our investigators but who knows if they'll even take the initiative to step into the font because they can't do even the simplest tasks... come to church, read the Book of Mormon, pray. I know that it is a big problem worldwide for missionaries but this week it really got to me hahah!
We found out this week that one of our recent converts is 13 and going out with a 26 year old... the worst part is that the parents are completely fine with it because the man has a car and a job. Poza Rica is weird man.
We've been teaching these two teenagers and three of their cousins are baptized members as of a year ago or so. So our lessons are with 5 teenagers from ages 14 to 18 and they are so fun. One of the kids, José, is by far one of the funniest and sociable kids I've ever seen in my entire life. He has us on the floor crying laughing every time we are with him. This past week he showed us how to slaughter a duck... and a chicken. It was pretty intriguing
One of our investigators started a full on argument with half the members of the ward after church on Sunday and I was very close to escorting the man out. He went off on the Stake President and his wife saying their remarks were completely and utterly stupid. Every time I tried to tell him to calm down he would tell me to shut up. After a 20 minute stand off he finally decided to leave and he told me that he was very excited to learn more on Tuesday when we had an appointment. 🤦♂️ I've never felt more embarrassed in my entire life. The man is crazy.
That's about it this week! Hope you all have a splendid week and feel free to shoot me an email whenever!! Love yuh
