Semana 35: México Teaaaa

Alaaaa frickin mecha this week has been filled with a lot of great stuff! This week felt longer than usual but we were grinding like crazy so it was all worth it in the end!! Two more of our friends are getting baptized this upcoming week and I am so excited!

Here is the dramatic part of my week: 
We saw one of our investigators that we haven't talked to in several weeks walking down the street. We stopped her and her grandson (who was on date) and chatted with them for a bit. I asked the grandson if he still had a desire to be baptized and he was like "ehhhhh". This is when everything blew up in our face. Apparently, the mom was so angry that we were teaching her son that she beheaded her mother-in-law's cat. On top of that she is posing threats on us if we try to pass by their house again. Now the grandma is mad at us to because her cat got brutally murdered by her daughter in law who is insane in the membrane. That family went from being taught to do not contact in a blink of an eye.

This last Saturday was probably the hardest working day in my mission thus far. We had 8 lessons and none of them fell through, found 4 new people in one day, received loads of referrals from members, got 10 return appointments in a row from people in areabook, put 3 baptismal dates, AND we got three inactive members working to get the priesthood!! Twas a grind and a half!

My comp and I were walking down the street and we saw these two random white dudes. They hollered "Elders!!!" and started running towards us. It was two returned missionaries a year ago who came back to Petromex to visit the area and the members. We spent the entire day with them driving around to members that lived out of our walking range and teaching lessons. They even showed us where this part member family lived that we were trying to get in contact with for weeks and because of that, their daughter is getting baptized on Wednesday!!! They told us a bunch of wild stories from their mission and things that we needed to try out before we leave Mexico. It was such a baller day.

One of our members had a Birthday party and of course, she invited the missionaries hahaha! So we grubbed out with Carmen and all her friends and family. It was so much fun!

We had zone conference on Friday and we took a bus all the way to Tuxpan. It was so nice seeing my old companion (Elder Gregorio) and some other good friends of mine. It was 3 zones combined and Tuxpan is loaded with white American dudes so I got see some of my kind hahah. Shout out to Elder Kempton from Queen Creek, AZ that man is a boss! The Assistants chastised us to the floor about using Areabook, effective planning/organization, and not using technology stupidly.

This week was such an awesome week and my Spanish fluency is actually pretty darn solid. I am only lacking proficiency in some verb tenses but besides that I am really confident in my Spanish! I am hoping to be fluent fluent around my 4 and half to 5 month mark.

Semana One: Welcome Everybody! (August 26, 2020)

Hola amigos y familia!!! WOW!!  This week has been so incredible and incredibly long haha! But I have loved every second of it. Last Wednesday I started the at home MTC experience and I mean it when I say it, it has completely changed my life. It's so crazy how in such a short amount of time my attitude towards EVERYTHING has changed tremendously. Not gonna lie, I was a little bitter and upset about doing the at home MTC initially, but it is seriously so much fun!  My district is so money and we have the best teachers! Hermana Mejia and Hermano Gallegos. My district is straight "GOAT"ed and I love every single one of them! We have learned so much together as a district and our español is definitely improving. After just one week at the MTC I've been able to say my prayers in Spanish, bear my testimony, and memorize some scriptures! I guess you can say it's coming along well! Semana 81: Make Love, Not War

The title comes from a Mexican missionary shouting, "Make Love!! Not War!!" in a district council. Just about all of our district speaks English so when he made that error, we all dropped to the floor laughing. I guess that's one way to solve the crisis happening in Ukraine right now.  Hermana Sedgwick I went on exchanges with the stud Elder Robertson!! He was the Canadian missionary in my MTC district and one of our best zone leaders. It was so fun! Familia Mota We were at our recent converts house. He was feeling pretty sick so we walked him over to his bed. We were talking to his daughters and his wife when all of a sudden we heard this loud bang on the floor. We looked over and it was our convert that had fallen off the bed. He had a seizure which caused him to fall off the bed and smacked his face so hard on the cement floor that he was unconscious. We all freaked out and lifted him up onto the bed. He was snoring and breathing really heavily but he would not wake up

Semana 18: ITS CHRISTMAS TIME BABYYYYY

Hellooooo everybody! I hope y'all are staying safe out there and partying hard. Christmas season is the BEST out here on the mish because so many more hearts are open and receptive to the message of the restored gospel. We have seen so many miracles here in Norwich and in the Syracuse Mission. Boy this week was a longgggg one and a great one. I am so beyond blessed to be here during these exciting times!  Before the Nor'easter And After.....this AZ boy is like, whoa!!! So it turns out one of our friends, Barbara, lives outside of our area. We had to refer her off which was such a sad day because she was so sweet and loving. We gave her a call and broke the sad news to her and she was very understanding. But before we hung up, she started serenading us to some Christian hymn and it was really sweet. A little off tune, but hey I don't blame her because I can't carry a tune myself. We had to mute the phone for some of it because we were laughing so hard that this 80 year o
